The Ultimate Book !
NEW BOOK ON THE MARKET.....

A real must-have for the real Indian - enthusiast is the recently published book "MOTOCYKLE II WOJNY SWIATOWEJ" by Tomasz SZCZERBICKI. The book is published in Poland by L&L company.

The book is entirely in Polish but is worth bying because of the many original pictures of military motorcycles. Tomasz gives a brief history of military motorcycling and gives a review of the many military motorcycle brands by country.

Indian has its place on the pages 118 - 122. I have to point out that the upper picture on page 119 is not an Indian Model 340 but a French Terrot RDA; for many a look-alike of the indian because of the same appearence of the sidecar body.

At the end there is a chapter with all data & specifications of the described motorcycles and a chapter with color pictures of many, mostly recently restored bikes.

The book is well done and must be on the shelves of your library. Its pictures are far more important than the language. I acquired the book through internet and paid by creditcard. It was duely delivered to Belgium in one week.

Ex Libris...
The Indian Motocycle Company Documentation
In big contrast to the quality of their motocycles, the IMC - documentation is very pover and lousy done ! If you have a specific model, never take just one IMC - Spare Part List and one Manual for granted! There are many mistakes, ranging from old illustrations (former models) to even non-illustrated Spare Part Lists...

The book that comes the closest to a decent "handbook" is the Jerry Greers ‘
Parts & Accessories for the Indian Motorcycle 1936-1953 - a real must for the serious restorer.

For my book about the
Model 340, I scanned tons of IMC - publications , got them through OCR - software and analysed the results. To narrow down on the Model 340 spare parts, I took 12 Spare Parts Lists, ranging from 1939 till 1944 and made cross-reference tables of almost all main spares. Stunning results... ! These Tables will be published as an appendix to my book.
